The fox is a beautiful, elusive animal, that has declined in numbers in Illinois due to a mange epidemic in the 60's and 70's, and an increase in the coyote population that never let them fully recover. Fox have come to adapt to living in urban and suburban areas partly because coyote numbers are low and rabbits and rodents are abundant in these areas. Fox rarely use dens except to rear their young, and prefer to take over the dens of other animals, which sometimes happens to be under homes, garages, sheds, and buildings. As lovely as they are, fox can create biohazardous conditions with their urine, feces, and capabilities of carrying a host of parasites and diseases, including mites, lice, fleas, worms, viruses, mange, rabies, and distemper, some of which can be transmitted to humans and pets. They also have a habit of making a nearby "storehouse" of excess food (dead animals) that may begin to decompose and smell. We offer services to humanely live trap and relocate nuisance fox. Please contact us for a rate quote, and if you are unsure what type of animal is causing your wildlife problem, we will be able to tell you upon our thorough and expert inspection. |
